My Vision was way Different!
This movie had its ups and downs, more downs than ups. 😒
As the critics say: muddled plot, thin characters, and choppy directing. The performances and action scenes were all that saved this one. I had a vision for this one (having nothing to do with stupid Enchantress), and as a message to WB and DC. Here is my overall synopsis for what this film should have been:
Waller recruits these criminals (Deadshot, Harley, Diablo, Croc, Boomerang, and Slipknot) under the supervision of military officer Rick Flag. Flag is an Iraq veteran and took the job from Waller because he needs money. Basically, he lost everyone he knew to Isis and is the only survivor of his squadron. The Squad members have been transferred to Belle Reve Penitentiary, subject to severe torture. Anyway, Deadshot is deprived from seeing his daughter, and is regretful that he was never around for her. Boomerang is an Australian gangbanger who was abused by his stepfather growing up. Croc is only looking to be left alone and not ridiculed from his skin condition. Slipknot is an expert climber who does not do well with orders. Finally, Harley is waiting for Joker to come and rescue her from the Squad. As a subplot, Joker is the secondary antagonist with a soft spot for Harley. He has been Gotham’s top criminal mastermind for some time since he killed Robin.
Waller wants the Squad to take down a criminal organization known as Checkmate. They have been operating mainly in Midway City, engaging in top secret missions vital to U.S interests, but are secretly after military secrets that could activate a nuclear war. She has the team infiltrate the midway city headquarters, only for a third party to enter and alert Thinker, Checkmate’s artificial intelligence system to lock down the facility.
The third party, revealed to be Joker’s gang, rescues Harley and they exit. The Squad is then captured by Sasha Bordeaux, a leading operative of the organization. She reveals that she has connections with Waller, and tells the team that there is a mole within Task Force X. This angers Flag, who fires at Sasha’s henchmen, and they all escape, except for Slipknot, who is killed on the way out. Joker and Harley, meanwhile, have reconciled and Joker reveals that he is also after Checkmate for their resources. He plans to sabotage a weapons deal between Bordeaux and mob boss Carmine Falcone in Gotham.
At Task Force X headquarters, Waller is angry with the team for not fulfilling their end of the deal. She almost fires Flag, only for Deadshot to intervene and convince Waller to give them one more chance. Meanwhile, Joker sabotages the weapons deal, and captures Sasha. While being pursued by GCPD, the Squad join in and engage in a prolonged high-speed chase, resulting in Diablo being killed in an explosion, and Joker’s vehicle crashing in a parking garage. Harley is injured, and Joker escapes the vehicle. The Squad approach Sasha and Croc rescues Harley. Suddenly, Waller arrives and reveals to the team that she is the head of Checkmate, and that the whole operation was a test to prove the Squad’s loyalty.
They are then reprimanded and released from prison on certain conditions. Croc must live in the sewer and leave citizens alone. Deadshot can see his daughter on weekends and retires as a hitman. Boomerang continues his operations as a bank robber, so long as he does not kill people. Harley returns to Joker’s hideout and they continue their dangerous relationship. Flag questions Waller on letting master criminals escape, and she replies by simply saying they will come back together when she wants them to, in that they are now recruits for Checkmate under the ARGUS program.
